Zoom calls can be all kids of things. Sometimes they’re fun. Sometimes warm. Sometimes silly. Sometimes boring or too long or every once in a while hilarious because someone doesn’t realize exactly what’s showing up on camera that they might not want everyone to see. But in the case of Episode 2 of John Krasinski’s Some Good News, the Zoom bomb became a magical, amazing, inspiring, incredible thing.
Nine-year-old Emma had tickets to go see Hamilton in April, but because all social gatherings were cancelled, she missed it. Her mom tweeted to say that she’d make to with an at-home viewing of Mary Poppins instead, since it also features Lin Manuel Miranda.
Little did Emma know when she got onto Zoom with John Krasinski that not only would he promise to fly her to New York when it’s all clear and get her in to see the NYC Broadway production, but that he also had a very special, very amazing, very INCREDIBLE surprise in store.
As they’re talking Lin Manuel Miranda, creator and star of Hamilton, appears on screen! As they continue to talk – the rest of the cast from the original production appears as well! They perform Emma’s FAVORITE song, “Alexander Hamilton”.
What follows is nothing short of spectacular. It’s heartwarming and gives us all hope that magic can still happen while we’re distant and that some day we’ll all be able to come out and be together again. It’s a marvel of technology and incredible effort. This team is dedicated to bringing hope and joy and light to the world.
We’re die hard fans of the new show Some Good News. We haven’t missed an episode.
